Coppell launches new website – Star Local Media

The city of Coppell officially launched its new website Wednesday evening.

Community Information Officer Sharon Logan said previously the city was hoping to launch the site June 19. Logan, though, said the city delayed the launch because of the heavy site traffic associated with flood updates and emergency information.

“That was not a good time to get it out on the road,” Logan said.

Logan said while the site has gone live, the city plans on doing a broad marketing campaign over the next two to three weeks.

The new site reduces the number of pages from around 1,000 to 250.

“The site will continue to evolve,” she said.

Logan said following the June 11 City Council meeting that the June 19 date may turn out to be a soft launch, but the staff was working to finalize the site.

The city’s current website was launched in February of 2010. During the June 11 City Council meeting Logan said it is not uncommon for corporations to update and redesign their site every two to three years.

The new site, unlike the current site, Logan said, will be available through mobile applications. She demonstrated to the council in June that the dimensions of the size shrink to fit mobile devices.

The new site will have a video playing in the background that can be changed seasonally or to correlate with a city event. The video, though, will not appear on the mobile application.

The council was last briefed on the redesign in September of 2014. It was then when the council approved the $109,200 project to Dallas’ Imaginuity Interactive.
